Para Lizette…
que no teme a las aguas profundas

« I’m drifting in deep water
Alone with my self-doubting, again
Try not to struggle this time
For I will weather the storm

Gotta remember (gonna remember)
Don’t fight it (don’t fight it)
Even if I (even if I)
Don’t like it (don’t like it)

Somehow, turn me around
(Somehow, turn me around)

No matter how far I drift
Deep waters (Deep waters)
Won’t scare me tonight »
*

« Mystic »

« As she walks in the room
Scented and torn
Hesitating once more
And as I take on myself
And the bitterness I felt
I realize that love lost

Wild, white horses
They will take me away
And the tenderness I feel
Will send the dark underneath
Will I follow

Through the glory of life
I will scatter on the floor
Disappointed and sore
And in my thoughts I have bled
From the riddles I've been fed
Another lie moves over

Wild, white horses
They will take me away
And the tenderness I feel
Will send the dark home to me
Will I follow

Well, white horses
They will take me away
And the tenderness I feel
Will send the dark underneath
Will I follow »

* The song is “The Rip”, performed by PORTISHEAD, composed by Geoff BARROW, Beth GIBBONS and Adrian UTLEY, it is the 4th track of the album Third, 2008. The animated video was made by Nick UFF, and released in the official band’s site the 12th May, 2008. The lyrics have been taken from the internet site www.alwaysontherun.net, you can see the precise page here. By the way, “Mystic” was the song’s former title: the band presented it with that name in their few gigs before releasing the album. For more details consult Wikipedia.

It has not been easy to publish this post… from a technical point of view, that is to say. I wanted to show you (inexistent you) this video since I first saw it, about 15 days ago — maybe more —, but then I wrote the previous piece of text and, also, I wanted to find a better quality video to “cast”. But as my new-Portishead-released-album fever goes its way, instead of doing my pending work I find myself struggling to-night to compose this post (html, styles, centering images, fonts, etcetera, you obsessive-compulsive blog-writers might understand what I mean).

There are, though, better versions of the “The Rip” video. One of them is available at You Tube (you can find it by clicking on this link); the other is in the Portishead official web page, but you have to be registered for accessing it (you sign up directly here). Anyway, if all this babbling has made you dizzy or even sick, or if I have already made you forget the pleasure of seeing the song and listening to the video, I strongly recommend: DO PLAY IT AGAIN. Enjoy.
